10cm x 10cm/4” x 4”: 24 sts over 40 rows in Broken Rib pattern and needle 3.5mm/US 4, or the size needed to obtain gauge

Other yarns can be used, but keep in mind that using other yarn qualities might lead to a different overall look of the hat. It can also affect the amount of yarn needed.
